ACT This quarter we will be focusing our study on the ACT test, particularly the English and Reading Tests. Letter to you, letter to me 2. Notes on letters 3. We read "Letter from a Birmingham City Jail" in class and dissected format, purpose, mood, and tone. Lee's letter to his son in class and dissected format, purpose, mood, and tone. 5. We completed a compare/contrast analysis of two letters from First Ladies (Abigail Adams and Michelle Obama). 6. We looked at MLK Jr.'s "I have a dream speech" as a comparison to his letter. We focused on purpose, audience, and tone. This assignment is found on the class edmodo page. 7. Compare and contrast Abigail Adam's letter to her daughter and Michelle Obama's letter to the Newtown survivors/residents; focusing on purpose, tone, and subject matter 8. Friendly letter assessment to show understanding of writing for a purpose and audience using appropriate form 9. We looked at "Dear Abby" Advice letters and created our own, writing as freshmen/sophomores, juniors and seniors.
